The Wyrm Deep

The Wyrm Deep is the oldest recoverable period of Vareth’s history. It spans an immense and unmeasured stretch of time before dragons, drakes, or any known sapient people.

c. 120,000–45,000 years before AF 1.

The First Flights

The First Flights begins when dragons become unmistakably present in Vareth. Wyrms are already ancient when the first dragonflights spread across the continent.

c. 45,000–18,000 years before AF 1.

The First Peoples

The First Peoples begins with the emergence of Vareth’s earliest sapient mortal populations. Its oldest developments can be placed only in broad sequence.

c. 18,000–11,000 years before AF 1.

The Elder Wars

The Elder Wars are a long sequence of conflicts that shatter the old orc–troll–ogre political world and sharply reduce the population and power of the first elder peoples across much of Vareth.

c. 11,000–5,000 years before AF 1.

The Younger Peoples

The fragmentation of the elder interior opens new territory, breaks old systems of tribute and control, and forces populations throughout central and northern Vareth to reorganize.

c. 5,000–800 years before AF 1.

The Old Kingdoms

Humans, dwarves, and elves establish increasingly durable states and begin competing directly with surviving elder powers.

c. 800 years to 1 year before AF 1.
